Update Wednesday Morning: Still no sign of them!! I have posted pictures and walked the whole apartment complex!! I put tuna out and my clothes and their litter box!! Today I am going to call the Rescue places close by! The Humane Society is closed today so I have to wait till tomorrow to call them! I also put out a Pet Amber Alert from Find Toto!! Oh lordy! We will be sending out huge rumbly purrs for them both to come home safely and SOON! You must be frantic with worry. There's some great suggestions upthread for things to help - we'd like to add the vacuum trick -
Vacuum your house (especially areas where they have left furs and scent) and empty the contents out, outside, around your doors and windows, at the edge of your property - the scent will carry far and may help them find their way home. We have known this work with escaped cats before, it's worth a try. Top up the scent daily - early mornings and evenings are the best time for scents to travel.

A previous poster has given really good advice about placing the used litter outside of their door. This is the only way they will know which home is theirs.
If they have been chased, the may have run farther then expected, so be sure to post your flyers in a much larger radius the you might expect. And CALL THE POUND/ASPCA, NOW and CALL FREQUENTLY. Give them a description and your name and address. They are quick to euthanize these days. Call all rescues and give them info.

our animal shelter always says that for dogs a person can call, but for cats the owner should go in person, at least every other day. be sure to call and send a picture to them to keep an eye out!

I just remembered that some advice I was given when Dylan was missing was to put out something with your scent on it -- like socks. Put them outside your apartment door.

Hang pictures of them everywhere, go to ALL shelters around, also petfinder on the internet, put one of their cat boxes and food and water outside the door where they escaped - they would want to come home! So maybe someone did take them in, or they might be hiding out somewhere, we will keep purring until they are back!!!
There were so many cats in the CB gone for days sometimes, and that Spanish cat, gone for 6 weeks, and they showed up again!

I had a thought - maybe you should alert the new owners of your old house. Just in case Sam and Tigger are heading back there. You never know!
Give them some time and they will come back. When they get out like that, they are scared and will not answer even your call. They go into panic mode and hunker down. It may take a day or two (or three) for them to calm down and return home. Hold tight. Don't give up. Leave treats and food out, maybe they'll come home soon. I'll send some prayers your way.
I'm so sorry to hear about this over at Daisy's place. I don't know if it's been mentioned before me, but look very close to your home in small spaces. The few times our cats walked out of the yard, they didn't go far at all. I think they're unlike dogs, who are more roamers. Cats tend to stay put. Hoping for a good news updated soon!
Be sure to go by the cloeset vet offices and leave them fliers. If they weren't wearing collars you've got to check the local pound daily and you can put fliers up at the local pet food stores too. One last thought, my Mary got out earlier this year. I didn't know she was out for hours and when I found out I walked and walked calling. I heard her on the 4th or 5th trip. She was so scared she stayed hidden in the thickest scrub but every time I called her she answered me till I came and found her. Good Luck!

All the suggestions given are very good. I'd also call all the vets in a 10 miles radius and ask if you can put up fliers in their office.

I feels they will be okay, I haf since theys started missing and still do. I finks they be close by, watching. Please don't do anyfing to skare thems off.
Just keep tha stinky food out, keep that area quiet (shhhhh), put some smelly clothing an blankies out, and sit back and wait. Theys probably skared to death.

I'd say leave your door open! Maybe they'll just walk back in if they smell a familiar house... I dunno. Anything helps.

oh still no mews I can't stand this...we need to enlist help from the locals. DO they have any sort of compassionate friends group who can help with the search? I feel so helpless....

Our local rescue service, recommends you make a big poster, laminate it and pin it to your front door, fence or noticeboard so that everyone passing by stops and sees it.

We are purring for them. Our senior cat Au went missing for 24 hours once. We found him two roads away: in the right house but the wrong street. Although stressed he was perfectly fine. We are hoping the same is true for Samantha and Mr Tigger.

Thats a great idea. Check houses in the same positions on other streets! Mebbe they are just confoosed. Walk around wif old smell-like-you clothes. Rattle treat jars. Shake rattley toys?
Mebbe wander far away. The Big Thing says once he had Tinkerbelle and the visitin Winter cat. An they were gone a day. He walked paths inta the swamp a mile. And there they were running to him, happy as clams. They followed him alla way home.
