We like the harness that Skeezix wears but have not been able to find one like it. IT looks more secure. We got the kitty Holster from Crazy K Farms. we also looked at the Walking Jacket. Kirby still crawls but we have not practiced as much as we need to.

We don't have tips cause we really don't like our harness, we need a new more comfortable one! We like Angel and Kirby's response!

Happy Friday, Samantha!

Our the mom doesn't haf many tips though - she says that some cats love them and some don't. But she things that a puppia (or somefing like that) harniss would prolly be the most comfortable.

We has no advice to offer but we thinks that may be the only way the Mom ever lets Socks out again. We are going to tell her to get a PINK one for him. ~Scylla & Charybdis

Sam the Wonder Cat is always bolting through the front door into the yard, despite the fact that he has a perfectly good, constantly accessible back deck that is all his and completely safe.

But chewing on grass is a major thrill for him so I must chase his rather rotund self (all 26 pounds of him - he's a Maine Coon) all around the yard and then haul him into the house which he does not like one little bit.

I've thought about leash training him but he's nearly 9 years old and I don't think he'd take to it too well.

I dont wear a harness but only get in the yard with mum or dad. You must stay safe so please bear with your mum and dad and wear one.. Hugs GJ xx

I don'ts knows anythings bouts these harnesses. I don't wears one and I get to run arounds in my yards all daayyy.Thoughs I have seen mom looking at this cage thing you sticks in the windows..she says she looks at its in case she gets another cats, she would choose to make it indoors only...she couldnt do that to me I was already indoor/outdoor whens she gots me hhehehe. But you puts this thing in the window and your kitty can go in it to experience the outsides without being on a harness...but of course they only has so much spaces.

We have no tips. We only get to go outside when the girl carries us. We love looking at your pretty eyes and long white whiskers.

Alfie Marshall from The Cat's Meow has done a great post on getting used to wearing a harness.

Hope that helps you!

We don't have any tips either. We go out in our garden unsupervised because it is secure, but we are only allowed out in the fields with mum. We don't have harnesses because we trained mum from when we were young that when she wanted to go back indoors she must call us so we could escort her safely back. She thinks it was her who trained us, but we let her think that.

We don't have any tips because no one goes out at our house - they are all indoor cats. But we think that a harness is a great idea for you to try. We hope it works!

None of us have ever had a harness on so we aren't much help. Good luck!!

We love our Puppia harness; it fits more like a little vest. I don't have any tips on how to get used to it, because I took to it right away. Maybe if you wear the harness without the leash for short periods inside the house until you get used to it?

We think wearing a harness and leash when you go out, Samantha, is a good idea. Alfie has some great tips on his blog today...

Gettin ta go outside would be worth bein onna harness. We will mention that a important thing is that the Bein walks fast so the leash stays loose. That way, ya dont notice the harness hardly at all.

We dont wear a harness now, but we all did at first til we were used ta our yard an knew where home was.

You must stay safe, Samantha dear, so this is what I suggest. Wear your harness inside the house for a few days until you get used to the feel of it, then have your Mom attach the lead and drag that around (under supervision, of course) That way you'll get used to the feel of it and can be outside safely.

For me it's difficult to give any advice, cats just don't walk on leashes here. They all run around free and have their cat flaps.
I once had to buy one for Arthur when he had his broken tail and meauwed the whole day because he couldn't go out. We walked him in the garden and then fixed the long leash on a line and he stayed there for a while. Then we had peace, lol !

We both got used to harnesses and mom said the key is patience and not giving up. I did a post wiv some helpful hints about it on Friday ~ I see that you have a link already in the comment from SeaThreePeeO above.

Mom sez dat she put Zippy's on and let her wear it for an hour, den two, den three and furst thing she knows Zippy wears it alla time now. Zippy is da only one allowed outside and dat is on a leash. She haf a long nylon tie out and she still manages to catch mousies and stuff.

We were going to suggest checking out Milo and Alfie's site but we see that others (including Milo and Alfie) have beat us to it.
We guess it is just like anything else: practice, perserverence, and patience.
(Our mum had Holly on a leash in the airport a bit back. People stoped to take photos!

SAmantha it probably would be a good idea to learn how to do the harness. I think Daisy's idea of wearing the harness without the leash around the house is a great idea. We are very lucky, we get to go outside just loose. We live way off the road and so we are fairly safe.

Not all of us want to go any further than the deck except Toy. Mom has a harness for him that she just puts his front legs through and secures it at the back of his collar area with a hook on his leash. That's how Mom gets him to the Vets 'cause he hates crates!=^Y^=

Oh, I know it's hard to wear a harness. When we lived in Germany I was an inside only cat. When my humans knew we would get a big garden at our new place in Sweden, my female human trained me to wear a harness. Very hard work. But I got better and better. In the end, when we were in Sweden she let me out with the harness. After some weeks she tried without a harness, but I already knew the area and came back home every day.

I have never been outside. It looks pretty scary out there. I think you will get a lot of good advice though!

Our cat Sammy went absolutely limp and flat when we tried to put a harness on him. It all worked out, though ... he's more than content just to watch the birds and squirrels from the window!

Our Nana got a harass for our Uncle Tinker. He ran around the house with is belly on the ground. Our Mom said it was so funny. Uncle Tinker eventually got used to it cuz Nana put it on him for a little while each day and she did not laf at him cuz that would make him mad. Our Mom could laf cuz Uncle Tinker already hissed at her. Something about her daring to get furkids of her own and bringing them to Nana's house. Uncle Tinker loved to go outside, but he was on a lash since he was a baby so getting used to the harnass was all he had to do. Good Luk.

I also want to train my cat Charlotte to wear a harness and leash. We live in Manhattan, so she doesn't go outside there, but we are temporarily in Montreal, and I would like to walk her around the deck outside. She is dying to get out.
