Thirteen Famous People who were Cat Lovers!! 1 . Sir Isaac Newton, who was first to describe the principle of gravity, invented the cat flap for the convenience of his many cats. 2 . Winston Churchill adored cats. His cat was named "Jock" and was referred to as Churchill's special assistant. 3 . Abraham Lincoln loved cats and while he was president, four of them lived in the White House with him. His cat Tabby, was the first cat to live there. 4 . Ernest Hemingway once had some 30 cats at his home in Havana. 5 . Florence Nightingale owned more than 60 cats in her lifetime. 6 . The first person to own a Siamese in the United States, was the wife of Rutherford Hayes, Lucy Webb Hayes. 7 . Grimalkin, was the name of the cat of the French Astrologer, Nostradamus. 8 .
