Sunday, in Hiding.
I will be glad when tomorrow is over!! All the extra feet will be gone and we can get back to normal. I have spent most of the weekend hiding under the bed. Mom was glad the visit with the brother-in-laws went very well. Gma Rosie, was fine, happy and glad to see her sons. I will be silent tomorrow for all those who died, were hurt, and affected by the VA Tech Tragedy. Our purrs and prays are with them all. Hope everyone had a great weekend.
Be blessed,
Samantha, Mr. Tigger and the Fam

Saturday, In the yard. Wish it was the 5th of May.
I'm getting my vitamin D for the day in the early morning sun. Then it's back to under the bed. Too many strange feet in the house this weekend. All is going well with all the brother-in-laws. Big group hug. Gma Rosie is enjoying having all her sons visiting. Me I can't wait to get Mom back all to myself. Enjoy the rest of your Saturday.

Thursday Thirteen - #1
1 . My mommy called me Blackie, when I was a kitten, cause she didn't know if I was a girl or boy. 2 . Her friend Melodie (after they found out I was a girl) said Blackie wasn't a girl's name and that I looked like a Samantha. 3 . So, I became Samantha Black. 4 . My nickname is Sammie. 5 . I know I'm in trouble when Mom calls me Samantha Black, in that tone of hers. 6 . Dad just calls me Sam. 7 . I like to watch Bewitched, because her name is Samantha. 8 . I don't know any other cats named Samantha. 9 . My name is Aramaic and means Listener. 10 . The name Samantha has only been around since the latter part of the 18th century. 11 . Famous Samantha's include, Samantha Eggar, an actress; Samantha Mulder of the TV Series X-Files; and Samantha Fox, a 1980's pop singer. 12 . Samantha was one of the 10 most popular names for females in the USA between 1990 and 2003, according to the U.S. Social Security Administration records. 13 . Just call me Samantha Black, C.P.I. Monday, Monday!!!
Hello, hope everyone had a great weekend. We are getting ready for family to come visit. Mom and Dad were running around all weekend. Hardly got a snuggle in. Tigger jumped on the table to get attention. He can meow real loud. Me, I just squeak. Mom says my meow is more a twitter sound. That's why I have to knock on doors to get in, no one can hear me unless I'm in their face. Too many people coming, I'll be hiding under the bed all weekend. Drats!! Mom wasn't sure on the treats, she's been giving us, so she tried to hide them from me and Tigger, but we found them. Drats!! Mom snatched them away again. Thanks for the list of treats and food, Mom's going out tomorrow and get us some of them. We are still praying for Lilly Lu, glad to hear she is eating by herself. Drats, here comes Mom, gotta go. Have a great Monday. Be blessed.
P.S. How do I get the brown ribbon to show up on my blog? Where is the html? at? Thanks

Caregivers 101
- First have someone that you can talk to. Don't try to hold all of what you are going through inside. Try to find someone who is taking care of someone with Alzheimer's so that they will understand. Friends and family who have never taken care of someone will not understand.
- Take time for yourself. Have a friend, relative or someone you trust give you a break. Go to the movies, take a walk along the beach, treat yourself to a massage, get a manicure. It will help you relax and go back fresh.
- Check out your local city and see if they have an Alzheimer's Association Branch. http://www.alz.org They have lots of information, meetings you can attend with or without your loved ones. Books and videos.
Be blessed,
Samantha and Mom

Sad Monday!!
Monday is usually my favorite day. I get mom all to myself. Dad goes to work and GMa Rosie goes to the Respite. Then mom and I cuddle. But today I am sad, for all the students and teachers that got killed and hurt today in Virgina. Let's keep them in our prayers. And give an extra lick and purr to all the ones we love tonight.
Be blessed.
Samantha, Tigger, Mon, Dad and Gma Rosie.

HELP!!!!
Oh my goodness, thanks for all the cool comments and new friends I am making. I'm new and there is so much to learn. Where do I go for blog etiquette 101? I don't want to make a mistake and click on something that does something I didn't mean to do. This blogging is complicated, but I am having fun. Tigger wants to get in on this blogging too, but I got to get CF to take some better pictures of him. To show off his good side. I'll try to get Pop's to take a picture of all of us together. Have a great evening. Samantha

Great day to be alive.
Hello, another beautiful day gone by. I sit here contemplating what to say next. CF talks to me all the time. I'm a great sounding board. She can say what she wants knowing I won't tell anybody anything. I sit beside her as she works and keep her company. She works hard, she takes care of Rose, our loved one with Alzheimer's, works at her internet business, takes care of her husband, cooks, cleans, shops and all sorts of other things. Whew, it makes me sleepy just thinking about all she does. And she does it all with a smile. I sit on her lap and purr and give her kitty kisses. She takes such good care of Tigger and I. We want for nothing. She lets us in and out and is always worrying, if I don't come in at night. Tigger stays outside except when it gets really cold and she is always trying to get him to stay inside more. He's the King of the neighborhood and let's all the other cat's know it. Tigger plans to post his own comments. I have to help him spell. It's time for me to go outside and do my nightly prowl. I think I'll sneak up on Tigger. Have a wonderful evening. Samantha

Answering my fan mail.
Hi there! Answering my fan mail is such hard work. I'm going to take a nap as soon as I finish writing. I like ripping open the letters the best. Blogging is fun too, but I have to do it when no one is watching. After all I'm a cat, and cats aren't suppose to type or know how to use the computer. Are there any other cats out there who blog? I'd like to hear from you. I've got to finish, I hear CF coming. Have a good day!!! Samantha

Alzheimer Caregiver Support
Here's a short article from CF, hope it helps someone. Samantha. Hello, I am a caregiver. I take care of my mother-in-law. Our town offers Social Respite programs, they are organized by the Council on the Aging. They are wonderful. I can take her up to five times a week from 9 am to 3 pm, Monday-Friday. It gives me time to do the things I need to do during the day. They use elder adults over 50 to interact with them. They feed them lunch, play games, talk about recent and past events, sing, do crafts and play cards. The groups are small, 10 per group, and there is usually 3 to 4 Respite workers per group. The group members care for each other too and even though they all have Alzheimer's, they know and understand each other in a way, we don't understand. Last week my mother-in-law, Rose had a fainting spell. Three of the caregivers called me to ask how she was doing, because the other members asked them to find out how she was doing. Three of the Respite workers also called me. It helps to have a network of people who understand what you are going through. The caregivers (spouses, daughter/son-in-laws, sons/daughters, other relatives) also have a group. We meet two to three times a month, to talk to each other, to help each other and to have someone to talk to who understands what we are going through. We laugh a little, cry a little, eat a lot and have a great time. It helps when you feel like no one understands what you are going through and if you have never taken care of or been around a person with Alzheimer's you wouldn't understand some of the problems that we face everyday. I hope this will help someone who needs a break from taking care of someone with Alzheimer's. I know that these Social Respite Programs and the caregiver groups have been a lifesaver to me.
Rainy Day in Florida
Hello, Samantha here. Contemplating what to write next on my blog. CF is sleeping so I got on the computer to say hello to my cyber space friends. It's been raining all day, but we needed it. Everything was dry and turning brown. I love to walk in the rain, because when I come in CF dries me off with a towel. I purr and twist and bit e (bite) (sorry paw miss step) the hand that dries me. Our loved one with Alzheimer's had a good day today. She goes to a Social Respite program that the Council on the Aging in our area has. They do crafts, sing, have lunch, talk about the days events and talk about themselves. The group members have a bond that goes beyond their disease. I help, I sleep with Rose and purr loudly. She lets me out when I want to go outside. Then I knock on the door and she lets me back in. Tigger and I play chase at night, but I can hide better than him. Hope ypur (your) (My paw slipped.) day was great. It's time for me to go out and play. Pictures of other cat's welcome. See ya!!!!
